When you miss out on our own league play and you're out of town....

...here's what our member Gretchen shared with us when she was in Florida, (a work related trip of course!)

"Here are some pictures I took at the Lakeland Table Tennis league today.  I played for 4.5 hours.  They play several times a week"

"Well, I got lazy last night and didn’t go play even though I could have in one of several different places.  Tonight I almost went back to Lakeland but decided to look on the internet for something a little closer to my hotel in northern Orlando (Altamonte Springs).  I found this place just 10 minutes from here.  It is a relatively small building but it is dedicated solely to table tennis.  It is a long skinny building with cubed offices and bathrooms to the right of the door and the tables in front of and to the left.  The facility is open most every day of the week.

There is a coach at the club with 20 years of experience coaching -  somewhere in Asia.  About 25 players signed in and challenged each other from 6:00 to 10:00 on 6 tables.   Yeah they were good.  I won two matches all evening but I took a 1900 rated player to deuce in the 5th.  He just managed to hit my paddle a lot I guess.  I, of course, used my regular paddle.  They marveled at the C Miller style.  The coach watched me, which made me nervous.  He then, of course, chided me nicely for the grip.  The others were confused by it.  Then they proceeded to leave little marks all over my torso because they hit the ball so hard.

It was all fun though."
